Steele stopped to catch his breath and then spoke. "Dad, why do I have to train so hard, what if I don't want to be a slead dog, what if I wanna be something else, like one of the search and rescue dogs that work at Patrick's sancuary like mom?" Steele asked. Patrick was rosey's brother, nome's only vet and the head of the wild life rescue and rehab center. It was also his job to go after missing sled dogs.
Steele's mother was a malamute who was once the best search and rescue canine, but after loosig one of her leg's in the line of duty, she trained new recruits.

"No, but what if I wanna make my own life,, what if I wanna be a pet, or a service dog who helps humans who can't do things on their own?" Steele asked as his mother hobbled along. "Honestly Skia, look at him, he's tired and I'm sure he'd rather play with his friends than spend sun up till sundown training."She replied. Steele could often count on his mom to side with him.

Back on the boat, Balto continued to look out at Nome. "I don't think it could be that bad. I might take a look someday," he said.

Mean while in the town Kal, Nikki, and Star were hanging around, "Its such a nice day Nikki do you think Steele will come by today?" He asked him.
Nikki smiled, "I don't know Kal I havn't heared from Steele for a while." He said to him.

Ice smiled haughtily. "I am a purebred Siberian husky, just like my parents. However, I was chosen as a pet," she said.
Meanwhile, Balto noticed that Boris was busy cleaning parts of their home. "I'll go to Nome now," he said, slipping away without being seen. He then headed for the city, not knowing what awaited him.
