Before long, the storm began to die down. Balto continued to frantically search for his family, but to no avail. Finally, he came across an old boat near a human town. He headed for it.

It was then the boat's sole Resident, a russian goose named boris heard the whimpering of a little pup. He looked up and saw a little pup some way away from him. He decided to investigate.
He soon came to the little pup. "Where did you come from little puppy?" Boris asked, lifting balto up.

Balto looked up at the goose. "My name is Balto. I got separated from my pack in the storm," he explained.

Boris nodded. "Well you can come live with me, I am Boris." He said, carrying Balto to the boat.

Balto looked at him. "I am part wolf on my mom's side, but I won't attack you. What's that town over there?" he asked.

Borris looked at the town. " That is called Nome, but it is not for you balto." He said. Borris knew the people there would fear balto and he did not want balto to get hurt.

"Why, because Humans fear wolves and they'll try to hurt you cause are a wolf-dog." Borris said, not wanting to scare the pup.

Mean while in Nome Kaltag, Nikki, Star, and Steele where hanging around, "So Steele what do you wnat to do today?" Kaltag asked him.

"Well I was thinking.." He started untill he saw his father Skia. "Never mind, I gotta go train with dad." He groaned, huffing away. Steele Wished he could go one day without his father's training, but his father insistered that he pprepare for when he becomes the lead dog.

Balto continued to look at the town. "Maybe I will go there one day," he said. In Nome, a young female husky pup with white fur watched the proceedings. Her name was Amy, and she was the sister to two other pups, Jenna, a red-furred husky, and Ice, a sable husky. She went up to Jenna. "So, do you want to do something?" she asked.

Kaltag chuckled, "Poor steele, it seems like he never gets to hang around any more." He said to the others.
Nikki who was watching Star as usual nodded, "Yea I know but hey Steele might be taking his fathers place as lead dog." He said to him.
