Kopaka played dumb, while silently signaling to David to keep quiet. The ship disembarked and sailed away at full speed.
Gyatso knew Aang would go rescue him. " so shall we go rescue him?" Gyatso asked his surrogate son.

David did exactly that. Instead, he returned to his girlfriend. "Why would an Air nomad be living among the water tribe?" he asked aloud. Aang nodded. "Yes. It's my job as the avatar. Appa can fly us after them. After that, we can find me a waterbending master," he said. Katara stepped toward them. "Sokka and I will go with you," she said.

"Hama has offered to train you Aang, however I'm not sure if she could handle such a journey." gyatso said.

Katara smiled. "I can train Aang in waterbending, and there are very talented masters up in the Northern water tribe as well," she said.

Aang was ready. "All right, hold on tight. Appa, yip-yip!" he said. Appa then took off into the sky.

On Zuko's ship, Kopaka had escaped his guard escort and was trying to get off the ship.

David continued playing along, saying or doing nothing. Sometime later, Appa was close enough that the ship could be seen. "There it is," he said.
