Balto curled up in his favorite corner of the boat and drifted off into sleep. Before long, he began to dream of Jenna, and of being put on a sled team. In his dreams, he, not Steele, was Nome's champion, and Jenna was his love.

The night continued on. Finally, the sun rose over Nome, and Balto was up early, searching for rabbits and washed-up fish for his breakfast.

Balto nodded and headed off. Finally, he found Jenna resting on the porch of her home. "I told you I'd see you," he said.
