An Anniversary To Remember
Alex and Gia had been mates for one full year. Everyone in the circus group was overjoyed for them. Gia herself was thrilled, as Alex had promised her a wonderful night under the stars for this anniversary. After the success of their first American tour, they had gotten a second one this year. Right now, they had come to the city of Orlando, Florida. At the moment, everyone was gearing up for the show. Gia approached Alex, a flirtatious gleam in her brown eyes.
"Oh, Mio amore, I look forward to a night under the stars with you," she said.
Alex nodded.
"Gia, it's going to be the best thing you can imagine," he said, winking as he spoke.
Gia smiled.
"Second best thing, Alex. The best thing I can imagine is standing right in front of me," she said.
Alex smiled, glad to hear that his mate truly loved him. He was about to respond when his and Gia's hybrid son Marcus came running up to them.
"Do good, Daddy!" he said, hugging Alex.
Alex picked up the little cub.
"We will, Marcus. You be good and do everything that Aleena says," he said, ruffling his son's head fur.
"Yes, Daddy!" Marcus said, chuckling cutely as he spoke.
Alex and Gia nodded. Aleena was a beautiful lioness who had escaped her cage at an animal sanctuary and come to the circus. She was also now the mate of Vitaly. Before Alex could say any more, he heard Stefano saying that it was showtime. Alex looked at everyone.
"All right, everyone, let's do this!" he said.
Everyone headed out to perform as Aleena took Marcus to go and play with her and Vitaly's young daughter, Amy. The show was a major success and had a full audience. Finally, it was over. After hugging Marcus and giving him one more admonition to be good, Alex went outside with the penguins to get ready for his night with Gia. He looked at the penguins.
"All right, I want this to be a special moment," he said.
Skipper nodded and looked at Rico.
"Rico, we're going to need everything for a special night for these two," he said, moving in close to whisper everything needed.
Using his power-vomiting ability, Rico proceeded to puke up a large dining room table, chairs, plates with lids and a box of raw steaks. Following that, they spent several minutes getting everything ready. Finally, it was time. Alex went to get his beloved. He smiled as he looked at her.
"Attention. I'm looking for a certain someone," he said.
Gia turned.
"So was I," she said.
And with that, Alex and Gia walked paw-in-paw out to the table. The beautiful Florida night was full of shining stars. Gia's eyes went wide at the side of the set table.
"Oh Alex, it's beautiful!" she said.
Alex guided her to her seat, and then sat down himself. He removed the domed lids from the plates, revealing the raw steaks.
"Dinner is served, my Italian beauty," Alex said.
And so, the two big cats began to eat. As they did so, they talked of everything that they had done and everything that had happened. Finally, after dinner was over, they laid down on a straw pile to look at the stars.
"Oh, mio bel leone, this was wonderful," she said.
"Yes, but not as wonderful as you," Alex replied.
Gia leaned in and hugged him tightly.
"Happy one year, Alex," she said.
"Happy one year, Gia," Alex answered.
And with that, they shared a kiss, knowing that their future was a happy one.
