Bagheera took it. "So let it be written, so let it be done," he said, taking it off to be destroyed. Isis followed her son and stood before Pharaoh. "I will show mercy to you, my darling Isis, but just this once," he said. Isis nodded and was released. Pharaoh then rose. "I have been Pharaoh for years now, and I have not selected the heir to the throne. I chose Edmund, son of my beloved Duchess as future Pharaoh. Ramose will be his general," he said.

The night came. Pharaoh left to his chamber with Callie. Days went by. It seemed as if Isis had given up. Then disaster struck. One morning, Pharaoh was found dead in his bed. Ramose was the one who delivered the news to his siblings. "Father is dead," he said.
